Equity in Migration and Health Policies and Practices
Dr. Fernández-Sánchez leads this research program where he examines the complex intersections of migration, health, and social justice. His work focuses on understanding the unique health needs and experiences of diverse migrant populations through critical ethnographic and participatory methodologies. His research sheds light on issues such as sexual health, HIV prevention, Human trafficking prevention, gender norms, and the structural challenges that migrants face in accessing equitable health care. The program aims to inform policies and practices that promote health equity for migrants at local, national, and international levels.
#YoSoyMigrante Nonprofit
Beyond academia, Dr. Fernández-Sánchez's commitment to social justice is realized through #YoSoyMigrante, a grassroots nonprofit organization. This initiative focuses on direct advocacy, resource mobilization, and support for migrants in transit and resettlement.
