We are proud to celebrate the work of Dr. Higinio Fernandez-Sanchez, PhD, RN, who has secured funding of more than MXN 1,000,000 from the Texas Development Center for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) for his study on HIV prevention in Spanish-speaking migrants in the U.S.

Despite being outside of Mexico, her work has a direct impact on the Mexican community, helping to reduce gaps in prevention and knowledge about HIV and human trafficking among migrants in Houston. Their study, in collaboration with the Latin American Foundation for Social Action (FLAS), will make it possible to generate culturally adapted interventions to improve the health of this population.

👏 Thank you for your commitment to migrant health, Dr. Fernandez-Sanchez! #YoSoyMigrante #SaludMigrante #VIHPrevención #InvestigaciónConImpacto

I acknowledge that I am located on Indigenous land, specifically the Atakapa-Ishak, Tāp Pīlam Coahuiltecan, the Sana band of the Tonkawa tribe, and Karankawa nations, whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.  As a migrant, I feel privileged to share this land and respect the histories, languages, and cultures.
